Celebrating Ryan Hingst's No-Hitter

Hingst No-Hitter

Photo by Barry S. Stahl dated 2016-03-25

Just a few days after the 3rd anniversary of the 9th no-hitter in Sun Devil Baseball history, Ryan Hingst thrilled the crowd at Phoenix Municipal Stadium with the 10th. It was an absolutely brilliant outing! Hingst allowed only 4 baserunners all night, retired the side in order in 6 of the 9 innings, and faced the minimum in another thanks to a double play.

The closest Utah got to a threat was in the 6th inning when a walk, sac bunt, and another walk put runners on 1st & 2nd with 1 out. Hingst rose to the occasion with a strikeout and fly out to end the inning. This was the only time in the game that Utah had 2 baserunners in an inning, and the only time they had a runner reach 2nd base.

The 5-0 final came on this night, 3 years ago.

In the first photo of our starting pitcher series, we look at our Sunday starter, RJ Dabovich. In his 2 starts thus far in the 2019 season, RJ Dabovich has earned his 2-0 record. His start today against UC Davis was his best as a Sun Devil, going 7 innings and giving up only 1 run on 4 hits. The Devils beat-up on the Aggies 17-2 to sweep the 3-game series.
